چکیده

Adaptive training of neural networks is typically done using some stochastic gradient algorithm that aims to minimize the mean square error (MSE). For many classification applications, such as channel equalization and codedivision multiple-access (CDMA) multiuser detection, the goal is to minimize the error probability. For these applications, adopting the MSE criterion may lead to a poor performance. A nonlinear adaptive near minimum error rate algorithm called the nonlinear least bit error rate (NLBER) is developed for training neural networks for these kinds of applications. The proposed method is applied to downlink multiuser detection in CDMA communication systems. Simulation results show that the NLBER algorithm has a good convergence speed and a small-size radial basis function network trained by this adaptive algorithm can closely match the performance of the optimal Bayesian multiuser detector. The results also confirm that training the neural network multiuser detector using the least mean square algorithm, although generally converging well in the MSE, can produce a poor error rate performance. r 2005 Elsevier B.V. Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Adaptive multiuser receivers for DS-CDMA using minimum BER gradient-Newton algorithms

In this paper we investigate the use of adaptive minimum bit error rate (MBER) Gradient-Newton algorithms in the design of linear multiuser receivers (MUD) for DS-CDMA systems. The proposed algorithms approximate the bit error rate (BER) from training data using linear multiuser detection structures. A comparative analysis of linear MUDs, employing minimum mean squared error (MMSE), previously ...

In this work we propose adaptive decision feedback (DF) multiuser detectors (MUDs) for DS-CDMA systems using recurrent neural networks (RNN). A DF CDMA receiver structure is presented with dynamically driven RNNs in the feedforward section and finite impulse response (FIR) linear filters in the feedback section for performing interference cancellation. A stochastic gradient (SG) algorithm is de...
